DINNER DISCUSSION WITH CHRIS WOOLARD, EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER, FCA

Christopher Woolard, Executive Director of Strategy and Competition, and an Executive Board Member of the Financial Conduct Authority, joined the Market Structure Group for a Special Dinner Discussion on the FCA's strategic and policy approach to future regulation. Participants had the opportunity to exchange perspectives with Chris as the Brexit discussions head towards a major conclusion.

This year’s summit examined Global and European Financial Services in the Year Ahead. Speakers included: Olivier Guersent, Director General of Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union; Sir Ivan Rogers KCMG, former Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the European Union; Ambassador Thomas Matussek, Senior Adviser at Flint Global and former German Ambassador to the UK; Dr Levin Holle, Head of Financial Markets Policy Department at the Ministry of Finance, Germany; Nikhil Rathi, CEO of the London Stock Exchange; Gerry Cross, Director of Policy and Risk at the Central Bank of Ireland; and Dr Adam Farkas, Executive Director of the European Banking Authority.

Anneliese Dodds MP, Labour Shadow Treasury Minister, joined The Infrastructure Forum on Wednesday 17 October for a Special Roundtable on Labour policy on infrastructure development. This meeting was very timely as Anneliese gave a pre-Budget assessment just 13 days before the Chancellor's unusually early Autumn Budget.

LUNCHEON WITH DR TITO TETTEMANTI ON THE UK/EU RELATIONSHIP POST BREXIT

The European Policy Forum held a luncheon hosted by Dr Tito Tettamanti on Tuesday 16 October 2018 to discuss the future of the UK's relations with the EU post-Brexit and how the composition of the bloc might change following the UK's departure. The discussion brought together senior politicians from the UK and Switzerland on the issues facing Europe and provided an opportunity for constructive exchange on a series of key issues.

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WITH JAMES RICHARDSON, CHIEF ECONOMIST, NIC

The Infrastructure Forum's Energy Working Group welcomed James Richardson, Chief Economist at the National Infrastructure Commission, for a Special Discussion on the National Infrastructure Assessment on Thursday 11 October 2018. The Group exchanged perspectives with James on the implications of the NIC's recommendation for the UK to pursue a high renewables energy supply mix. This meeting helped shaped the Group's thoughts as they prepared their response to the Assessment.

Sir Bernard Jenkin MP, Chair of the Public Administration Select Committee of the House of Commons, joined The Infrastructure Forum on Thursday 6 September to exchange views on the Committee's report arising from its Inquiry: Sourcing Public Services: Lessons learned from the Collapse of Carillion. Participants discussed Parliament's emerging thinking on the lessons learned from Carillion and put forward its ideas for addressing the problems and developing sustainable private engagement with public service provision for the future.
