We were delighted to welcome on Monday 2 December 2019, Jonathan Oxley, Chair of the UK Regulators Network and Andrew Sentence, Senior Adviser to Cambridge Econometrics, who explored the next steps for infrastructure investment in the UK.

Protection of vulnerable customers is moving ever higher up the agenda of all regulatory authorities and establishing a consistent approach to identifying this group will be paramount to maintaining the stability and predictability of the regulatory framework.
European Policy Forum's Regulatory Best Practice Group welcomed a panel of speakers, chaired by Dame Deirdre Hutton, Chair of the CAA, including Lindsey Fussell, Consumer Group Director at Ofcom, Matthew Upton, Director of Policy for Consumer and Public Services of Citizens’ Advice, and Caroline Normand, Director of Policy of Which?, to discuss Defining and Protecting Vulnerable Consumers in Regulated Markets on Tuesday 15 October 2019.

The NIC have been tasked by HM Treasury with undertaking a Study into the Future of Regulation which will examine the existing regulatory framework in the UK for the telecoms, water and energy sectors, and whether changes might be necessary to foster innovation and investment in the long-term. TIF discussed its response to this study with Sir John Armitt, Chair, and Sarah Hayes, Project Director for Regulation, at a dinner discussion on Wednesday 17 July 2019 exploring these issues
2019 ANNUAL INFRASTRUCTURE POLICY SUMMIT HARTWELL HOUSE
THURSDAY 4 TO FRIDAY 5 JULY 2019
The 2019 Annual Infrastructure Policy Summit at Hartwell House addressed the paramount issues affecting the UK infrastructure sector with leading figures in the industry. Issues discussed included: infrastructure finance and regulation; how to encourage inward infrastructure investment; transforming the rail industry; delivering major infrastructure projects; and the forecast for UK Infrastructure. The event took place from Thursday 4 to Friday 5 July 2019.
TIF ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING WITH ALLAN COOK, CHAIR OF HS2

The Infrastructure Forum’s Advisory Council welcomed Allan Cook, Chair of HS2, to its meeting on Monday 1 July 2019 to discuss the outlook for HS2 and more generally across infrastructure. The dinner provided an opportune moment to examine the delivery of major projects in the UK, the benefits of infrastructure for growth and any blockages to delivery in the system. Participants explored the importance of a holistic approach to rail investment and collaboration between stakeholders across the UK.

Second Permanent Secretary at HM Treasury, Charles Roxburgh, joined a dinner discussion on Wednesday 26 June 2019 to discuss the Treasury’s Infrastructure Finance Review and the response from TIF’s Working Group to the consultation. The dinner was kindly hosted by Pinsent Masons and brought together experts from across the industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities for financing UK infrastructure projects.

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee has launched an inquiry into the Government's management of major projects. The Infrastructure Forum is delighted that Sir Bernard Jenkin MP agreed to lead a special roundtable to exchange perspectives on the Committee's Inquiry on Thursday 9 May 2019. The event provided an excellent opportunity particularly for TIF's Procurement Working Group to share its ongoing work on improving visibility in the Infrastructure and Project Authority's Project Pipeline.

procurement practices in January 2019. The dinner served as the launch the Working Group's report - Sustainable Procurement: A Vision for UK Infrastructure.
