One Share One Vote (2006)

Against the context of the European Commission’s proposals to introduce a ‘one share one vote’ system for listed companies in Europe, this study brought together leading academics from around the world to examine the issues. They showed that the Commission’s ideas had a number of problems. A review of the evidence on the performance of companies with differentiated voting systems is included. The study proved influential in the European Commission’s ultimate decision not to proceed with a measure of this nature.
