| Packed gathering debates future EU and OECD taxation policy |
Tax experts packed EPF's special roundtable in the margins of the International Fiscal Association Congress in Brussels to debate upcoming OECD and EU tax issues. Professor Christopher Heady of the OECD explained OECD's new work pointing towards a shift away from income and corporate to consumption and property taxes in support of economic growth. EPF presented a new study on the taxation of income from capital across the EU by Dr Sandra Svaljek (left). It emphasises the role of flat taxes low tax rates and efficient operation of withholding taxes.From the European Commission, Jean-Pierre De Laet and Kerstin Malmer, the heads of economic analysis of taxation and direct tax legislation, looked at key areas of their work including the review of the Savings Tax Directive. Delegates took part in lively discussions with the speakers. |
